The Indian Nurses' organization in Qatar, UNIQ, celebrated International Nurses Day. The event took place on Friday, May 17th, at the Podar Pearl School Auditorium in Al Meshaf, with the Indian Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, inaugurating the function.
UNIQ President Mr.Luthfi Kalamban presided over the ceremony, with IBPC Vice President Mr.Hisham Abdul Rahim, UNIQ General Secretary Ms.Bindu Linson, Patron Mr.Noufal N.M., Treasurer Mr.Dileesh Bhargavan, UNIQ Advisory Committee Vice Chairperson Ms.Mini Sibi, Hamad Medical Corporation Acting Chief Executive Director of Nursing Ms.Mariam Nooh Al Muthawa, ICBF President Mr.Shanavas Bava, ICC President Mr.A.P. Manikandan, ISC General Secretary Mr.Nihad Ali, Former ICC President Mr. Babu Rajan, Qatar INCAS President Mr.Hayder Chungathara, and other organizational representatives participating.
Experts from Qatar's Nursing sector took part in a discussion on the 2024 International Nurses Day theme, "Our Nurses. Our Future. The Economic Power of Care." Around 800 people, including Nurses working in various hospitals in Qatar and their family members, participated in the celebration.
The UNIQ Nursing Excellence Award, "Proclamation of Nursing Profession Beyond Boundaries," was awarded to Ms.Jancy Reji and Ms.Nisha Peter for providing first aid to a heart attack patient during a flight to India last month and saving her life.
UNIQ has made significant changes in the Indian Nursing community in Qatar. UNIQ continues to inspire social, cultural, and professional engagements among Indian Nurses in Qatar.
